New Moon in Capricorn January 2024

In astrology, the New Moon is a time of new beginnings and wiping the slate clean. It's when you set your intention for the lunar cycle ahead and call into your life what you want - that could be a physical, tangible thing or something like more love, a joyful daily routine, or a deeper connection to your intuition.
Driven by long-term ambitions, Capricorn has a vision that they will stop at nothing to see come to fruition. As we begin 2024, Capricorn can help you map out your goals and dreams for the year ahead and add some action-oriented steps to your plans. The road may be long, and there are bound to be obstacles and uncertainties, but knowing where you're going will make the journey so much easier.
The symbol of Capricorn is often depicted as a goat, climbing up a mountain, step by step. But it’s really deeper than that. Capricorn is really a sea goat, a half-goat, half-fish animal. The head and upper half is a goat, where the lower half looks like a fish or mermaid tail.
In my perspective, showing Capricorn as just a goat is part of our patriarchal conditioning. Capricorn is seen as ambitious, wanting to climb it’s own personal goal mountain no matter what rock slides or boulders are in the way.
But this depiction really does disservice to Capricorn. Our society is so caught up in productivity and almost an obsessive tendency to work and create, that we cut off half of ourselves. We’re so focused on our energy expenditure, our left-brain plans, steps, and goals. We burn the candle at both ends, all for the sake of climbing our mountain. We neglect our physical, emotional, and spiritual bodies until something gives or unfortunately sometimes, breaks.
Capricorn is known in the zodiac space as being ambitious and ready to take on the world to climb its mountain. But we have to remember what inspired us to have those goals in the first place.
It’s our feelings. Our soul’s purpose. And that is much deeper than a to-do list. So I encourage you this New Moon, to not only name your goals and write them down but pay attention to the feelings that arise within you as you look at your goals. When you sit down and look at your goals and to-do lists, I encourage you to do so with a sense of devotion. Your goals are your sacred calling, your soul’s purpose.
